There are basically 5 types of cufflinks. There are soft enameled cufflinks. The raised “circumference” of the cufflinks is filled with enamel, like a stained-glass window. With hard enamel cufflinks, the cufflinks are heated and polished to create a smooth surface. In addition to the enameled cufflinks, there are also one-piece “cast” cufflinks in a mold. It is also possible to punch or engrave precious metal cufflinks and it is possible to apply an image to cufflinks by means of doming.
In addition to a free digital design, we can also produce a sample for you, against payment with a delivery time of 4-6 weeks.
After approval of the digital design or sample, production will commence.
If you want to have the cufflinks packaged in a gift box or box, this is also possible. After approval, it will take 4-6 weeks to have your cufflinks made.
We are happy to show you examples of completed projects to inspire you and show you the possibilities with custom cufflinks. Some projects combine techniques.
Soft enamel cufflinks are the most popular cufflinks in cufflink making. They are made by pouring enamel into a cufflink that serves as a mold. The raised edges of the mold are visible from the top. This gives the cufflinks a nice classic look.
In contrast to soft enamel cufflinks, hard enamel cufflinks have a smooth surface. In addition, the raised edges of the cufflinks are less visible because the enamel is melted and polished. If you want to have luxurious cufflinks made that have a smooth surface, this is the best choice. Hard enamel cufflinks are sometimes combined with printing techniques for fine details in the design.
If you have a 3D design of a cufflink in mind, this can be realized with a 3D mold. Metal is poured into the mold to create depth and make all shapes possible.
If you want to create a discreet cufflink based on a metal cufflink, this is the best option. Using a laser, metal can come to life with engraving, or a cufflink can be struck from a die (just like a coin). For a 2D cufflink without further colors, this is the best option.
A technique that we use less often but can give a nice result is doming. A cufflink is used as a template and an image is applied to the bottom. This image is covered with a clear epoxy resin.
There are several finishes with which the metal parts of the cufflinks can be finished:
The standard finish is glossy, but you can also choose:
